Overview
Yvon Chouinard expanded his rock-climbing equipment company into the clothing market in 1973, founding Patagonia. Today, however, this organization’s work is as much about environmental education and protection as it is selling clothes. Go into one of their stores or browse their website to see for yourself. And the products are made to last. Patagonia’s high-quality goods, inclusive of fishing, hiking, skiing, surfing, running and yoga gear are generating annual sales of over $400 million. Genuinely concerned for the state of environment, each year they donate 1% of sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups worldwide. Patagonia considers the big picture and it’s propelling them to new heights.
