Method’s products are some of the greenest on the market — and not just in the cleaning products industry. They currently have over 40 products Cradle to Cradle Certified, among the most of any company in the world. To keep close tabs on environmental impact data, Method uses Rapid Carbon Modeling, a software tool developed by Planet Metrics.
This organization showcases its Eco-Design through:
Environmentally Conscious Materials
According to Inhabitant, an online publisher, Method’s bottles are completely recyclable and made from 100% recycled plastic whenever possible. The design of the packages themselves is scored against Method’s very own “green card” program which ensures that the packaging design considers recyclability, packaging weight, reusability and compostability.
Biodegradable, Recyclable or Reusable Breakdown
One area Method carefully considers is the impact their products have on water systems, intentionally making all soaps biodegradable.
Eco-Minded Partners and Suppliers
Method have additional financial incentives set in place for partners and suppliers that incorporate sustainability initiatives such as on-site renewable energy generation and the use of energy-efficient equipment.
Low Impact Transportation
Transportation trucks use biodiesel, with 50% of the fuel coming from renewable, low-emission biofuels from secondary waste vegetable oil sources. The trucks have automatically inflating tires, aerodynamic trailer designs and an auxiliary power unit so the engine can be turned off when stopped and idling.
